기질과 어머니의 훈육방식이 유아의 행동적 자기조절능력에 미치는 영향 = Effects of Temperament and Mother’s Disciplinary Styles on the Behavior Self-regulation Ability of Young Children

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of young children's temperament and their mother's disciplinary styles on the ability to self-regulate their behavior. The study sample consisted of mothers of 500 kindergarten children in S and I city, Korea. The study questionnaire was completed by the mothers. The data were analyzed using t-tests, correlation, and regression analysis. The main findings were as follows. First, the ability to self-regulate behavior varied with the gender. Girls showed a higher ability to self-regulate their behavior. Second, among the mother's disciplinary styles, emotional response was found to be the most significant predictor of young children's ability to self-regulate behavior, followed by the child's extrovert temperament. Overall, results suggest that the mother's disciplinary practice is a very important factor to promote the ability to self-regulate behavior among young children. Therefore, there is a strong need for programs to address such issues.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유아의 행동적 자기조절능력에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 개인 내적 변인인 기질과 어머니 변인인 훈육방식의 영향력을 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 만 5세 유아의 어머니 500명이며, 자료분석을 위해 SPSS 21.0 프로그램을 이용하여 차이검증, 상관분석과 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 성별에 따른 유아의 행동적 자기조절능력의 차이를 살펴 본 결과, 여아가 남아보다 높게 나타났으며, 기질 중 외향성과 어머니의 훈육방식 중 감정반응형이 유아의 행동적 자기조절능력에 영향을 미치는 변인으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구결과는 유아의 행동적 자기조절능력에 영향을 미치는 요인을 다각적으로 모색함으로써 유아의 행동적 자기조절능력을 향상하기 위한 근거를 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
