한국 이반 연극과 지구지역성 : 연극〈무화과꽃〉을 중심으로 = Iban Theatre and Glocality

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 이반 연극 〈無花果꽃〉을 ‘지구지역성’ (glocality)의 개념을 중심으로 살펴본 것이다. 이 극은 서울 도심에 있는 대학로에서 2000년 처음으로 무대에 올려졌다.
극의 등장 인물 세 명은 억압된 이반 공동체의 (피해)의식을 대표한다. 그러나 이전의 이반 연극과 달리, 〈無花果꽃〉은 오피스텔로 상징되는 폐쇄된 억압에서 벗어나기 위해 성적 정치성(지구화적인 성)이라는 새로운 주제를 탈출구로 설정한다. 또한 지구적인 성 정치와 이반 문화를 반영하는 “문화 번역”의 양상도 나타나고 있어 이를 통해 극의 ‘지구지역성’을 살펴 볼 수 있다. 극의 제목 역시 매우 상징적인데, ‘꽃이 없는 꽃’을 의미하는 ‘무화과꽃’은 이반 공동체의 현재 처지와도 같기 때문이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This short paper uses of the concept of “glocality” in its reading of an iban play called FIG BLOSSOM (Muhwagwaggot) staged in 2000 at Daehagno in downtown Seoul.
The three characters in the play represent the consciousness of the oppressed iban (e­ban, ivan) community. But unlike previous iban plays, FIG BLOSSOM incorporates the new theme of sexual politics (globalized sexuality) as a means to escape the stifling oppression of the “office­tel”. Together with the reach to a global sexual politics, the play simultaneously reveals features of “cultural translation” reflected in local aspects of iban culture. Hence, the “glocal” character of the play. The title of the play­the “blossom of ‘the blossomless flower’ ”―is an apt metaphor for the contemporary iban community.
