공동생활가정 입소아동의 친가정 복귀를 위한 가족중심실천에 관한 근거이론 연구 = Reunification of Children in Group Homes with Birth Families

Using the grounded theory method, this study analyzed the in-depth interviews of 7 group home workers in order to examine the experience of family-centered practice for family reunification of children in Group Home. According to the results of the analysis, the causal condition was found to be “sense of purpose towards family reunification” and “fostering children with parents”, while the central phenomena turned out to be “empowerment for sustainable bringing up of birth family.” Thus, the contextual conditions were awareness of biological parents` unconditional value and participation attitudes of biological parents, while the mediation conditions were going through policy dilemma, and poor conditions of birth family. Also, reaction/interaction strategies turned out to be raising well institutionalized children, shaping a good relationship between parents and children, strengthening the resolution to bring up children, giving a birth family diverse supports, understanding the situation of parents, and deciding the possibility of family reunification. Finally, the analysis showed sustainability as a supporting system of birth family, ambivalence of a appropriate practice, and helplessness as results. The results of the analysis showed four stages over time. 1) Formation of the conditions for entrusting child protection, 2) development of the partnership for family reunification, 3) reconstruction of child-rearing environments, 4) connection and disconnection as a supporting system. Reflecting on the results of the analysis, the study proposes practical and policy alternatives to revitalize family-centered practices of group home workers, with the purpose of family reunification.
