G.Verdi의 오페라 <La Traviata>의 탄생배경을 토대로 한 대본과 음악 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오페라 <라 트라비아타>의 독특한 분위기와 극적 감각은 베르디가 그의 연인 스트레포니를 만난 이후에 자신의 사생활의 사건들에 의하여 일련의 테마를 유도해 냈기 때문이라고 보여진다. 그녀와의 개인적인 관계가 작품 창작의 중요한 요소로 작용하고 있어서 스트레포니는 여주인공을 위한 직접적인 모델이 되었다. 그러나 베르디의 삶과 작품 사이의 유사성은 사건의 유사성에 있는 것이 아니고 오히려 인물과 성격의 유사성에 더 큰 비중이 있다. 사실상 베르디가 그리고자 했던 것은 세련되고 생기 있으며 감정이 풍부한 아름다운 여주인공이 자신에게 주어진 삶의 조건 속에서 자기 희생적인 사랑을 추구하는 모습이었다. 이는 베르디가 오페라 속의 알프레도 같이 자기 연인의 헌신적인 태도를 통해 그들이 나눈 사랑의 참 의미를 다시 깨달음과 동시에 스트레포니의 진정한 가치를 인식하게 된 경험에서 비롯된 것이다. 오페라 <라 트라비아타>는 천한 신분의 courtesan을 주인공으로 내세웠을 뿐만 아니라 용기있게 자신이 진정 원하는 진실한 사랑을 추구하는 모습을 묘사했기 때문에 당시 사회의 분위기에서 파격적인 작품이었다. <라 트라비아타>는 여주인공 비올레타의 환경이 그녀의 삶에 미치는 영향을 작곡가 개인의 삶과 관련시켜서 묘사하였고 그것은 오페라에 극적 진실을 더하게 하는 요소가 되었다. 본 연구에서는 베르디가 비올레타의 이미지를 만들어 내는 데 영향을 준 요소들을 작품의 탄생배경을 토대로 하여 대본 전체에서 고찰하고, 대본에서 제시하고자 한 내용이 음악에 어떻게 반영되어 있는지 분석하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The ambience and dramatic sense unique to La Traviata seem to stem from a series of themes derived by Verdi from the events in his private life that had occurred since he had met his lover, Strepponi. Since his personal relationship with her was functioning as an important element in his creation of the work. Strcpponi became the direct model for the female lead.
The similarity between his life and work, however, was more in the characters and their temperament rather than in the sequence of events. Matter of fact, what he intended to depict was a sophisticated, vibrant, empathetic and adorable woman pursuing self-sacrificing love under the given conditions of her life. This resulted from Verdi's own experience that his lover's devotion allowed him to rediscover, as Alfredo did in his work, the true meaning of the love they shared and recognize the genuine worth of Strepponi at the same time. The Opera La Traviata not only employed a lowly courtesan as its main lead, but also depicted her as a brave woman pursuing her true love that she really wished for, placing itself as an unconventional work in the social setting back then. La Traviata related the personal life of the composer to the impact of Violetta's background upon her life, which served as an element adding dramatic plausibility to the opera. This study reviews the elements influencing Verdi in creating the image of Violetta based on the background of the work across the entire script, and analyzes how the substance presented in the script is reflected upon the music.
