`Cultivation of oneself and `moral training` are the core value in the ideology of Confucianism. Today`s students in the field of Confucianism has mainly chosen the Western ways and systems of studies for their scholastic pursuit. As a result, they are not cultivated for themselves but just ready for only analysis and presentation. For this reason, looking at today`s Confucianism study and comparing it with the traditional one, we can easily see that it is fundamentally wrong from the root. Therefore, today`s students working in Confucianism should revive its vitality pursuing `cultivation of oneself`, a traditional way to study Confucianism. Cultivation in Confucianism can be divided into cultivation pursued through one`s life and that through scholastic studies. The examples of the cultivation through one`s life are as follows: `practicing filial piety`, `practicing fidelity`, `practicing forgiveness`, `practicing manners`, `following lching-the theory of change`, `listening with all one`s heart`, `listening to one`s conscience`, `being sincere`, `keeping one`s pious heart`, `cultivating one`s mental strength`, and `preserving night air`. `Studying the fundamental scriptures` is the example of cultivation through scholastic studies. In today`s complicated society, a new and scientific way for one`s self-cultivation should be developed, which is more easily understandable than the one in the past.
