일본조원학회의 근대조경유산 보전 활동에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Conservation Activity for Modern Landscape Heritage of the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture

국문 초록 (Abstract)

연구는 우리나라 근대 조경유산 보전의 체계적인 활동을 위하여 일본 조원학회의 근대 조경유산 보전에 관한 활동을 문헌과 인터뷰 조사를 통해 분석하여 시사점을 도출한 것이다. 그 결과, 일본 조원학회의 근대조경유산 유산 보전활등은 크게 3단계로 구분할 수 있었다. 1989년부터 1997년까지에 학회에 조경유산 보전위원회(ランドスケ一プ遺産保全委員會)가 설치되는 등 학회 차원에서의 움직임을 보이기 시작한 ‘시작단계’, 1998년부터 2009년까지 학회에 조경유산 연구 위원회(ランドスケ一プ遺産究委員會)를 설치하고 5회에 걸친 분과회를 실시하는 등 근대조경유산을 보전하기 위하여 본격적으로 다양한 학술활동을 한 ‘준비단계’, 마지막으로 2010년부터 지금까지 학회 90주년 기념사업으로 조경유산 인벤토리 작성 위원회(ランドスケ一プ遺産インベントリ一作成委員會)를 설치하고 각 지부가 중심이 되어 일본 전국의 조경유산을 조사하여 공표하고, 조경유산의 보전을 위하여 다양한 활동을 하고 있는 ‘활동단계’이다. 준비단계에 해당하는 2001년부터 2006년까지는 학회 분과회 활동을 통해서 근대조경유산을 조경학이라는 학문적 관점, 법과 제도적 측면, 시대적 변화와 조경학의 변천 등을 다양한 관점에서 사례를 중심으로 심도 있게 다루었다. 그 결과 ‘근대 조경유산보전’이라는 관점에서 ‘조경유산’이라는 관점으로 확대되었다. 또한, 분과회 등의 학술활동을 통하여 근대에 태동한 조경학이라는 학문에 대한 근본적 고찰과 시대적 변화 속에서의 조경학의 사회적 역할 등을 다양한 시점에서 포괄적으로 재조명할 수 있는 계기가 되었을 것이며, 이를 기록하여 학회지에 남김으로서 후속세대에게 학문적 메시지를 전달하고 학문의 연속성을 확보하였다는 점은 우리에게 시사점을 준다. 더욱이, 이러한 학회차원의 활동이 외부 연구지원이 아닌 학회의 학술활동으로 이루어졌다는 점도 특징적이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study is intended to draw an implication from landscape heritage conservation activities of the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture(JILA) via literature survey and interviews. In consequence, the modern landscape conservation activities of the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture can be divided into three phases. First of all, the beginning phase was between 1989 and 1997. In the phase, the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture established the Landscape Heritage Conservation Committee, showing its first academic-society-level actions. Secondly, the preparatory phase was between 1998 and 2009. A variety of academic activities were conducted during the phase, and the activities included establishment of the Landscape Heritage Research Committee and five subcommittees. Lastly, the activity phase was initiated in 2010. The Landscape Heritage Inventory Composition Committee was established in the year and has been active since then, conducting researches on landscape heritage in Japan and publishing the results. The local branches of the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture seized the initiative when the researches were conducted, and it systematically performed the activities. Between 2001 and 2006, the preparatory phase, a variety of case studies were performed to deal with modern landscape heritage from various perspectives such as academic, legal and institutional perspectives. Consequently, the concept of modern landscape heritage conservation was expanded to the concept of landscape heritage in terms of conservation activities. This shed new light on the role of landscape architecture in the society and led to a deeper consideration on the fundamentals of landscape architecture. The fact that the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture delivered academic messages and secured the sustainability through documentation and publication of the results of the activities without external financial support has a critical implication for us.
