심청가의 지평전환 양상 = A Study on the Aspects of the Horizontal Reorientations in <Shimcheong-ga>

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Pansori has grown and developed through the horizontal reorientations over a long time. The purpose of this study is to review the horizontal reorientations in the scenes of Shimcheong's marrying the emperor and opening the party for the blind in order to find her father. The results are as follows.
First, there is a following horizontal reorientation in the scene of Shimcheong's marrying the emperor. In the first scene the emperor meets Shimcheong who has got out of the flower in the moonlight, and Shimcheong tells her humble life history. Considering that Shimcheong from the lowly position cannot become an empress, the emperor makes her state rise to that of the empress by having a mistress answer the emperor's questions. On the other hand, a Bongrae-Seongwan appears in a dream of the emperor, and tells the emperor to receive Shimcheong as an empress in the Junggojae <Shimcheong-ga>. So, Shimcheong's becoming an empress is inevitable in the Heavenly system, which is a horizontal transition. The majestic marriage ceremony is described in detail and realistically, but reduced after the mid-19th century, and now only its trace is left.
Second, the aspects of the horizontal reorientations are as follows in the scene of Empress Shimcheong's opening the party for the blind to find her father. Empress Shimcheong's worrying about her old and blind father in the moonlight of autumn changes horizontally to her asking a wild goose to send her letter to him. The words are made elegant and sophisticated, and so it is embodied appropriate to the image of Shimcheong's longing for and worrying about her blind father. And a horizontal transition is made in a ratioal way in the part of music. But now the content of the letter is reduced by deleting some part of it, considering that it is too long. The process of opening the party for the blind has a horizontal reorientation in a rational way, and now it is reduced to maintain an epic structure.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

판소리는 오랜 기간에 걸쳐 지평전환이 다양하게 이루어지는 과정을 통해 성장, 발전하여 왔는데, 그 중심에 더늠이 있었다. 본고에서는 심청이 황제와 혼인하는 대목과 심황후가 부친을 찾기 위해 맹인잔치를 배설하는 대목에서 이루어진 지평전환을 검토하였는데, 그 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 국혼대목에서 이루어진 지평전환 양상은 다음과 같다. 초기의 모습은 황제가 달밤에 꽃봉오리에서 나온 심청을 바로 만나고 심청이 자신의 미천한 내력을 아뢰는 것인데, 미천한 심청이 황후에 오른다는 것은 있을 수 없는 일이라고 생각하여 황제의 물음에 심청을 대신하여 시녀가 대답하는 등 심청의 신분을 상승시켜 황후의 자격을 갖춘 인물로 만들었다. 이와 달리 중고제 <심청가>에서는 황제의 꿈에 봉래선관이 나타나 심청을 황후로 맞아들이도록 계시하여 심청이 황후가 되는 것이 천상계의 질서에 따른 필연적인 것으로 지평전환이 이루어졌다. 그리고 성대하고 화려한 대례식은 매우 구체적이고 사실적으로 묘사되었지만 19세기 중기 이후에 축소되기 시작했으며 지금은 대부분 흔적만 겨우 남아 있을 정도로 축소되었다.
둘째, 맹인잔치 배설 대목에서 이루어진 지평전환 양상은 다음과 같다. 심황후가 가을 달밤에 늙고 안맹한 부친을 걱정하는 소박한 내용이 기러기를 보고 부친에게 편지를 전해달라고 부탁하는 소위 ‘추월만정’으로 지평전환이 이루어졌다. 사설이 세련되고 우아하게 다듬어져 고귀한 신분의 심황후가 맹인 부친을 그리워하고 걱정하는 모습에 어울리게 형상화되었으며, 음악적인 면에서도 합리적인 방향으로 지평전환이 일어났다. 그러나 현재는 그것이 지나치게 장황하다고 판단하여 편지 내용을 삭제하는 등 간략하게 만들었다. 그리고 맹인잔치를 여는 장면도 합리적인 쪽으로 지평전환이 이루어졌는데, 현재는 서사적 골격만 겨우 유지하는 정도로 축소되어 버렸다.
