우리나라 성인 리더의 리더십 특성 분석과 영재교육에의 시사점 = An Analysis of the Leadership Characteristics of Korean Leaders and Its Implication for Gifted Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

  한 사회를 이끌어가는 리더의 역할과 구성원들이 함께 만들어가는 공유된 리더십은 그 어느 때보다 더 중요해 지고 있다. 영재교육의 맥락에서 영재의 리더십 교육의 중요성을 강조하는 최근의 논의도 이 때문이다. 반면 리더의 모습과 리더십의 개념은 사회의 변화와 함께 늘 새롭게 변화하고 있다. 그렇다면 오늘날 한국사회를 이끌어가고 있는 리더들은 어떠한 모습이며, 이들 성인 리더들이 가지고 있는 특성은 분야별로 어떠하며, 자라나는 영재들에게 어떠한 귀감을 줄 수 있을까? 본 연구는 이러한 물음에 대한 해답을 찾기 위해 현재 우리 사회를 각 분야에서 이끌고 있는 영재의 역할모델이 되는 성인 리더들의 실제 특성을 분석하고, 이러한 특성으로부터 영재교육에 주는 시사점을 도출하여 향후 리더가 될 가능성이 높은 영재들을 위한 리더십 육성 프로그램 개발의 기초를 삼고자 수행되었다. 15명의 과학기술분야 리더와 11명의 인문사회분야 리더들의 리더십 특성 분석결과 두 분야간 유의미한 차이가 발견되지 않았으며, 문화예술분야 리더 2명을 포함한 28명의 우리 사회 리더들은 리더십의 15가지 하위요인들 중 비전과 목표제시, 과제책임감, 자신감, 자기절제 및 관리, 의사소통능력, 사회에 대한 헌신, 타인배려 및 존중에서 강점을 보였으며, 상대적으로 창의성과 도전정신, 대인관계기술, 협동심 및 팀？ 등에 있어서는 미흡한 것으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

  The purpose of the study is to analyze the psychological and behavioral characteristics of Korean leaders and to get implications for promoting the leadership of gifted students. From a meta-analysis of studies on leadership, twenty major common components of leadership were derived including interpersonal skills, creativity, presentation of vision and goals, caring for others, task commitment, cooperation and teamwork, and so forth. A survey questionnaire was developed with the leadership components identified by the meta-analysis.<BR>  Twenty-eight Korean adult leaders who showed excellent performances and earned social respects in the fields of science/technology and humanities and social sciences responded to a survey with 124 5-point Likert scaled questions. The analysis of the adult leaders" data showed that the adult leaders presented very clear vision and goal and had a very strong sense of task commitment. They also showed very good self control and management as well as excellent communication skills. It was shown that they highly evaluated themselves for their own intellectual ability and confidence, whereas they did not put much emphasis on their own creativity, risk-taking, interpersonal skills, and cooperation and team work as much as the other components. It is worthy of noting that the overall characteristics of these adult leaders did not differ greatly across the fields.<BR>  These findings indicated that the same leadership program could be utilized for gifted students of various talents and identified the priorities for leadership education as the current adult leaders could be regarded as the role models for the young gifted student.
