Body image and body care behavior of female college students in China -based on the social influence of celebrities- by ZHONG QIQI Master of Sociology Graduate School of Kyung Hee University In the social media environment, female college students increasingly value their external appearance, leading to changes in their body image. At the same time, influential and charismatic celebrities in society can influence female college students' body image and even their management behaviors to some extent through social interactions on the internet. This study explores the impact of celebrity effects on the body image and management of contemporary female college students. This qualitative study, conducted through in-depth interviews with 20 female college students from Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, investigates their body image and management. On the Relationship Between Celebrity Effects on Female College Students' Body Image and Management: While celebrity effects do not directly impact female college students' body image, some of their behaviors influence their perceptions of 'beauty' making them more one-sided. The celebrity effect promotes physical management among female college students. And female college students can view celebrities' bodily management behaviors rationally and dialectically. Overall, celebrity influence doesn’t directly affect college students' perception of beauty. This study aims to promote proper treatment of celebrities by female college students and their impact on body image and management, fostering positive body image management so that the younger generation can grow more healthily in a social media environment.
