This study explores the potential application of generative artificial intelligence(GenAI) in conjunction with the SCAMPER technique, a widely used method for generating creative ideas in the field of design. While traditional ideation techniques play a crucial role in enhancing creativity, prior research on the integration of GenAI into such methods remains limited. Therefore, this study presents outcomes generated by combining the SCAMPER technique with GenAI and investigates user satisfaction. The participants were first-year students majoring in Visual Design at a university in Busan, who used both GenAI and SCAMPER to develop business card design ideas. The results indicate that the GenAI-assisted SCAMPER technique had a meaningful impact on creative thinking and problem-solving, while also influencing user satisfaction. Additionally, a SWOT analysis was conducted to comprehensively examine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the GenAI-based SCAMPER approach, thereby suggesting its practical applicability in design education and industry. This study confirms that the integration of GenAI and creative ideation techniques can serve as an innovative tool with tangible contributions to both design education and practice.
