<선녀와 나무꾼> 전래동화의 설화수용양상과 문제점 = An aspect that “The fairy and the woodcutter” accept the folktale and its problems

“The fairy and the woodcutter” is widespread remained folktale in the whole world as well as Korea. There are many folktales which was recorded it about this similar story in Korea. And There are also many publications about “The fairy and the woodcutter”. It is necessary to notice the point that “The fairy and the woodcutter” is well known folktale in Korea and surely included under the catalog of collection of fairy tales which many publishing companies competitively published.
The fairy tale is the genre of literature which transmit a folktale to posterity. Consequently, it inferred how “The fairy and the woodcutter” accept the type and factor of folktale through a comparative study with its folktale in modern tradition literature. This manuscript compared each of chapters 42 and 8 in <Hankukgubimunhakdaegye> and <LimSukjae Hankuk Gujeonsulhwa> with 12 volumes in the fairy tale books are published since 2000 through author and prestige of publishing companies consideration.
And then I pointed out the problems in accepting the folktale for “The fairy and the woodcutter” and made a counterproposal.
First of all, I pointed out the problems the fairy tale books accept the folktale tendentiously and made a counterproposal in a humble measure through these points that many Korean fairy tale books: ① accepts only “a type about rooster's origin” with excessively tragic parting in “The fairy and the woodcutter” ② does not accepts an amusing factors that “a type about rooster's origin” of the folktale has only ③ accepts the folktale without the core episode “the story that the woodcutter overcomes many difficulties in the heavens” in “The fairy and the woodcutter”, so these fairy tales lose its narrative completion.
And second, I pointed out the problems many Korean fairy tale books are contradictory to each other, because the theme and lesson with author, editor or supervisor message to reader hold different view with the logic behind narrative of this fairy tale, and made a counterproposal through the concrete examples of Korean fairy tale book.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

<선녀와 나무꾼> 설화는 우리나라뿐만 아니라 전 세계에 걸쳐 널리 퍼져 있는 광포설화 중 하나다. 우리나라에 채록된 편수만 해도 상당히 많다. 그 설화 자료 못지않게 <선녀와 나무꾼>전래동화의 출판편수도 상당하다. 이처럼 <선녀와 나무꾼>은 한국민이면 누구나 알 정도로 유명한 설화 중 하나이고, 출판사별 경쟁적으로 내놓고 있는 전래동화집(옛이야기집)에서 빠지지 않는 목록이기 때문에 주목하여 비교할 필요가 있다.
본 논문에서는 전래동화를 설화를 전승하는 전승자 역할을 하는 문학 장르로 본다. 따라서 현대의 구비문학적 관점에서 <선녀와 나무꾼> 전래동화가 설화의 어떤 유형과 요소들을 어떻게 수용하고 있는 지를 <선녀와 나무꾼> 구전설화와 비교 분석을 통해 그 양상을 살폈다. 여기에서『한국구비문학대계』에 수록된 42편과 『임석재전집 한국 구전설화』에 수록된 8편의 구전설화와 2000년 이후에 출판된 책으로 작가와 출판사의 인지도를 고려해 선정한 12편의 전래동화를 비교 대상으로 삼았다.
그 다음 <선녀와 나무꾼> 전래동화에서 설화를 수용함에 있어 드러나는 문제점을 지적하고 대안을 제시하였다.
첫 번째로 ① <선녀와 나무꾼>설화 유형에서 지나치게 비극적 이별형인 ‘수탉유래형’만을 수용하고 있는 점 ② 설화에서 수탉유래형만이 지니고 있는 재미있는 요소를 전래동화에서 제대로 수용하고 있지 못한 점 ③ <선녀와 나무꾼>설화 서사에서 중요한 핵심 삽화인 ‘나무꾼천상시련극복담’이 빠진 설화를 대부분의 전래동화에서 수용함으로써 서사의 완결성을 떨어뜨리고 있는 점을 들어 전래동화에서 설화를 편향적으로 수용함으로써 발생하는 문제점을 지적하고 미약하나마 대안을 제시하고자 하였다.
두 번째로 전래동화에서 작가나 편집자 혹은 감수자가 독자에게 전달하고 하는 주제의식이나 교훈이 전래동화의 서사 논리와 서로 어긋남으로써 논리적 모순에 빠지고 마는 문제점을 전래동화의 구체적인 사례를 제시하여 지적하고 대안을 제시하였다.
