(Background and Aim of Research) : Cardio-cerebrovascular disorders, such as myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, arrhythmia, heart failure and stroke are primary cause of death in Korea. Given its degenerative disease feature, senescence is major risk factor of disorders. Korea has already become an aging society as of the year 2000. Considering the increasing velocity of the aging population, Korea is predicted to be a super-aged society by 2026. In addintion, the westernized life style contributes to cardio-cerebrovascular disordes and the related socioeconomic burden is rapidly increasing in Korea. The project establishes a long-term strategic plan of prevention and management for cardio-cerebrovascular disorders based on scientific evidence.
