There is the literary works of Yomihon called to Ehonchosengunki(1,800) by Akizato Rito. The works is one of Chosengunkimono, which was collected during Japanese invasions of Korea in 16th century and belongs to the library of Seoul National University. The works had not been lateralized. By this reason, it was necessary of the works to be studied and translated. This study to research this point was selected as 2008 Basic Study Research Subject.
The study has figured out the contents throughout a translation work from the photographic editions of 10 volumes for 9 months.
The first year's research results are as follows;
First, the study arranged other editions of Ehonchosengunki and inquired into the bibliographical items. The study found that it was distributed from Edo period to Meiji period to six kinds of works like Ehonchosengunki(1885) by Saganosotaro, Ehonchosengunki(1886) by Ito Tomekichi, Ehonchosengunki(1887) by Arakawa Huzibei, Ehonchosengunki(1888) by Okamoto Sensuke, Ehonchosengunki(1889) by Makino Kinnosuke, Ehonchosengunki(1891) by Ito Kurazo, which were effected by Ehonchosengunki of Akizato Rito. All six works could be considered to accept the important factors of Japanese Modern Literature because those developed their stories by an illustration. Especially, the study concretely and positively examined how Japanese invasive war was described and also how personal aspects was changed by a period throughout the comparative study between Ehonchosengunki of Akizato Rito published in Edo period and six kinds of Ehonchosengunki published after Meiji period.
Second, the study examined the truth of the name change of Dokdo expressed in Chosen Tokaien and the fabrication of Japanese dominium claim for Dokdo. What interested things confirmed by a translation was the matter about the transcription for Dokdo of Chosen Tokaien Vol. Ⅰ in Ehonchosengunki. Recently, Japanese government decides to transcribe Dokdo to Japanese territory in the Handbook of Government Guidelines for Teaching in Middle School. According to this, the relationship between Korea and Japan becomes cold and the whole Korea is seething over the question. The above map is the data to apparently indicate that Dokdo has not been in Japanese territory, and the explanations are followings; the map marked Wollungdo as Takeshima(竹嶋) and there was no indication except drawing two islands in Dokdo. That is, Japanese government had called Woollungdo of the territory of Joseon Dynasty to Takeshima and Dokdo to Matsushima in Edo period, but two islands misspelled by Nagasaki Sibolt's misunderstanding have called Woollungdo to Matsushima and Dokdo to Takeshima. This is a strong evidence to prove the historical truth why Japanese Government has called Dokdo to Takeshima. Ehonchosengunki published in 1,800 expresses Woollungdo to Takeshima. If Dokdo would be in the Japanese territory, the government could not pass over the spell change. In other words, Japanese government at that time must be considered Dokdo as the territory of Joseon Dynasty.
Finally, the study grasped the all contents of Ehonchosengunki with the photoprint of ten volumes from Seoul National University for 9 months according to the study plan.
