인도인 디아스포라와 초국가주의

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

  The main objective of this study is to examine the every day transnational practices of Indian diasporas relating particularly to kinship and marriage relationships, domestic rituals, exchange of monetary and non-monetary resources. This study is largely concerned with the "transnationalism from below" to examine the daily lives, activities and social relationships of overseas Indians living in two or more nation-states. The principal agents of "transnationalism from below" become everyday people who maintain family and kinship ties, send remittances, and have multiple localities in their daily transnational practices. The emergence of Indian transnational migrants has been largely attributable to revolutionary developments of faster, cheaper, and more efficient global communication technology. This study also emphasizes that the positive linkages between Indian diasporas and motherlands is made possible through the socio-economic and political incentives given by the Indian Government. The attractive schemes like the PIO card are introduced for Non-Resident Indians and People of Indian Origins.
