This paper is concerned with multi-aisle autornatic warehouse system served by a single stacker crane. The single stacker crane warehouse systems are often adopted for reducing initial investment cost. The single stacker crane serves serveral aisles through atransfer devices called traverser. In this warehouse system travel time of the stacker crane is potent influence on the productiwity of the AS/RS operation. In this paper Rack-Class-Based Turnover Assignment rule is proposed for reducing average travel time of the stacker crane and the mathematical model is also developed for calculating average travel time of the stack crane for a given set of AS/RS operations.
