Asphalt pavement has been failed mainly due to rutting in Korea. Therefore, laboratory tests were performed for several modifiers to increase the pavement life by improving the properties of asphalt mixtures. Laboratory test results showed all modifier improved the mechanical properties of asphalt mixtures. Since laboratory test showed modifier "C" was superior for improving the dynamic stability of asphalt mixtures, field test sections using modifier "C" were constructed. And resilient moduli of conventional mixtures and modified mixtures by several modifiers were measured using repeated indirect tensile testing machine. Also, rapid freezing and thawing test was performed to investigate effect of modifiers on improving the properties of mixtures at low temperature. The results of laboratory test and field test indicate modified asphalt mixtures by modifier "C" is good for improving the dynamic stability of mixture and workability. Futher field investigation will be performed to determine the feasibility of modified mixtures. To make the results of this study practical, pilot construction section for surface course and test section for asphalt treated base course using modifier "C" were also constructed.
