This study tries to diversify the color of natural hairdyes for the wide selection and examine the degree of hair dyeing using the extract of discarded chestnut shells in order to discover new substances. As a result of an experiment, which used white hair to observe the degree of dyeing and dynamical variations under different conditions of the time, temperature, concentration and fixative, the following outcomes are observed. When the white hair was dyed by the extract of chestnut shells, it was confirmed to be dyed by tannin element which is a sort of acid. Figures K/S and ΔE decreased, so the degree of dyeing declined as well. The order of the figures of K/S and ΔE of fixative was Fe > Al > no mordant > Cu respectively. Therefore, Fe is considered to be the most effective fixative.
