점과 정치: 현대 정치 영역에서의 무속‧점술 분석과 주역의 역할 모색 = Divination and Politics: An Analysis of Shamanism and Fortune-Telling in Contemporary Politics and an Exploration of the Role of the Zhouyi

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 우리나라 현대 정치 영역에서 무속, 점술이 정치권력과 결탁하여 문제가 되고 있는 현실을 정치 영역 신문기사를 통해 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 1990년부터 현재까지 신문기사 정치 영역에서 무속, 점술이 어떻게 언급되고 있는 분석했으며, 그 인식의 변화를 주요 시점별로 살펴보았다. 이 과정에서 근래 무속, 점술이 정치와 직접적으로 연결되어 부정적인 방식으로 언급되고 있다는 점을 포착했다. 이런 정치 현실 속에서 동아시아 전통에서 점치는 책으로 여겨졌던 『주역』을 통해 시도해 볼 수 있는 것이 무엇인지를 시론적이나마 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 현대 정치 영역 신문기사에서『주역』이 어떻게 언급되고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 이 과정에서『주역』이 고전이자 철학적 지혜로서 정치 영역에서 의미 있는 논의들로 전개되고 있는 경향성이 크다는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 이에 기반하여 앞으로 현대 정치 영역에서 『주역』의 역할에 대해 시론적이나마 모색해 보았다.

This paper examines how shamanism and fortune-telling, when entangled with political power, have become problematic in contemporary Korean politics, drawing upon newspaper articles in the political domain. Specifically, it analyzes how shamanism and divination have been mentioned in political news articles from 1990 to the present, tracing changes in perception across key moments. The study identifies that in recent years, shamanism and fortune-telling have been increasingly linked directly to politics in negative ways. Against this political backdrop, the paper offers a preliminary exploration of what possibilities the Zhouyi (traditionally regarded in East Asia as a book of divination) might offer. To this end, it investigates how the Zhouyi has been referenced in contemporary political news articles. The findings suggest a strong tendency for the Zhouyi to be treated not merely as a divinatory text but as a classic embodying philosophical wisdom, thereby contributing to meaningful political discourse. Building on this, the paper tentatively explores the potential role of the Zhouyi in contemporary political contexts.
