This study investigates innovative directions for higher education amidst rapid technological transformation and proposes talent development strategies specifically for the smart logistics industry in the Busan-Gyeongnam region. As the Fourth Industrial Revolution accelerates the convergence of technologies and automation, higher education must transition from basic technical training to cultivating advanced competencies such as creativity, ethics, integrative thinking, and sustainability. Drawing on the theoretical framework of Education 5.0 and a regional industry demand survey, the study outlines four key strategies for educational innovation: 1) practice-based learning aimed at enhancing technical skills, 2) industry-academia collaborative projects to foster strategic thinking, 3) interdisciplinary education tracks to improve collaborative problem-solving, and 4) the creation of ESG-integrated courses to nurture ethical and sustainable leadership. The findings offer a roadmap for restructuring higher education to adapt to technological changes and develop talent that will support the region’s sustainable industrial growth.
