일반논문 : 전설과 제의에 반영된 신숭겸의 영웅화와 신격화 = The Heroization and Deification of Shin Sunggyeom Reflected in Legend and Memorial Rite

국문 초록 (Abstract)

역사와 전설이 다르듯, 역사적 인물과 전설적 인물도 다르다. 신숭겸은 역사적인물이지만, 많은 전설이 만들어져 전승되어 왔다. 전설은 전승집단이 그리고 싶어하는 모습으로 역사적 인물을 다시 그린다. 과장, 미화, 첨가 등 다양한 수사적 방법을 활용하여 영웅화를 시도한다. 역사적 인물은 또한 제의를 통해서 후세에 오랫동안 기억되기도 한다. 신숭겸은 태조묘, 팔관회, 태사사, 성황사 등에 추존되었다. 이들 제의는 실존인물인 신숭겸을 신격화시키는 방식으로 활용되었다. 전설과 의례는 현실세계와 구별되는 일종의 꾸며진 세계다. 환타지에 의존하여 문화사회학적으로 특정 인물을 평가격상시키는 관습적 방법이기도 하다. 특정한 역사적 인물이 전설 속에 등장하고, 의례로 모셔지는 현상은 전설과 의례 장치를 통해 오래오래 기억하자는 사회적 약속이며, 관습적 장치라 하겠다. 즉 현실세계가 구속을 받을 수밖에 없는 시간과 공간의 한계를 초극하여 존재의 시공을 확장시키는 전승방식의 일종이다. 신숭겸이라는 역사적 인물을 사회적 귀감으로 삼기 위한 방식으로 전설을 통한 영웅화와 제의를 통한 신격화가 이루진 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As the history and legend are different, a figure in the history and a figure in the legend are different. Shin Sunggyeom is the figure in the history, but many legend about him have been made up and inherited. The legend draws a figure in the history again as a shape that story carrying group want. They attempt heroization using various rhetorical techniques like exaggeration, beautification and addition. A figure in the history sometimes remembered for ages to come through memorial rite. Shin Sunggyeom was held to be honoured in Taejomyo, Palkwanhoi, Taesasa and Seongwhangsa etc. These memorial rites have been used in ways of deification of Shin Sunggyeom who was existed person. The legend and memorial rite are kinds of made world which are discriminated from the real world. It is also a conventional way to evaluate and raise a particular person culturally and sociologically by leaning on fantasy. A phenomenon that a particular figure in the history is appeared in the legend and being served in the memorial rites is a social promise and conventional system to remember the figure for a long time through the legend and memorial rites. It means that it is a way of transmitting by expanding time and space of the existence through overcoming limitation of the time and space in which the real world inevitably restricted. As a way of making Shin Sunggyeom, a figure in the history, a model of the society, the heroization through the legend and the deification through the memorial rite have been performed.
