User created content (UCC) is defined as content that is made and shared by common users. From the user’s perspective, the increase of UCCs has led to an expansion of alternative means of communications, while from the business perspective, UCCs have formed an environment that guarantees an abundant amount of contents. However, despite outward quantitative growth, many aspects of UCCs do not meet expectations in terms of quality, as can be observed through pirated contents and user-copied contents. The purpose of this research is to point out how two core elements, namely, reward and motivation, enhance content creativity and reveal the process of the production of creative items with regards to users’ perceived rewards and motivations. Based on this perspective, this paper will take an in-depth look into constructing the dimensions of reward and motivation in UCC services. Blog users were subject to surveys and creativity evaluations (TTCT), and contents created by these participants were evaluated through expert evaluations. Data gathered through the aforementioned processes was analyzed through structural equation modeling. As a result, it was revealed that elements of reward and motivation do indeed influence UCC creativity, while service commitment appeared to be a mediating factor. This research suggests that affective, continuous commitment towards service provider greatly increases its mediating effects on creativity.
