The sera of 28 patients from Korea with biopsy- proven chronic active hepatitis (CAH) and 54 control subjects were examined for HBs Ag by a solid-phase double-antibody radio-immunoassay technique and for autoantibodies to mitochondria, smooth muscle, and nuclei by the fluorescent-antibody technique using human kidney, liver, and rat stomach as substrates. Eighty-six per cent of sera of patients with CAH contained HBs Ag. In a control group of apparently normal subjecis and subject with miscellaneous liver diseases unrel ted to vira! Hcpatilis.
