대미 수출 수산물의 유통경로 분석 연구 = A Study on the Distribution Channel of Fishery Products Exported to the United States

국문 초록 (Abstract)

미국은 우리나라의 제3위 수산물 수출국으로, 전체 수출의 13.7%를 차지할 만큼 매우 중요한 수출대상국이다. 그러나 2024년 1월로 예정되어 있는 해양포유류보호법(MMPA) 수입 규제가 본격 시행될 경우 대미 수출에 미치는 영향이 상당할 것으로 보이며, 원활한 대미 수산물 수출을 위해서는 업체별로 모든 품목에 대해 생산 또는 원료 수입부터 가공, 유통, 수출까지 단계별 과정을 증빙할 수 있는 자료를 구비해야 할 것으로 예상된다. 다만 현재로서는 생산자부터 유통업자, 소비자에 이르기까지 이력 정보의 기록 및 관리와 관련된 국내 제도가 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 미국으로 수출되는 주요 수산물의 유통단계가 얼마나 복잡한 형태를 띠고 있는지, 그리고 경로별 비중이 어떠한지 등 그 수출 실태를 우선적으로 파악하기 위해 대미 수출업체 및 수출 현황을 조사하고, 유통경로를 분석하여 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The United States is Korea’s important trading partner, ranking third (13.7%) in exports of fishery products in Korea. The impact on exports to the United States is expected to be significant if the seafood import provisions under the MMPA are implemented in 2024 accordingly. It is expected that documents proving production information will be required for all items when exporting to the U.S.
Therefore, this study attempted to examine the current status of exports and exporters in order to understand the actual conditions of major fishery products exported to the United States. Besides, there are currently no official system and procedures in Korea to prove production information for all fishery items, so we tried to suggest implications by examining distribution channels for major export items to the U.S. In this study, five items including seaweed and halibut as domestic aquaculture items, tuna and squid as deep-sea fishing items, and fish cake using imported raw materials were selected as the target items for distribution channel investigation. In addition, this study is meaningful in that it investigated the routes from production to processing, distribution, and export of each item and identified detailed distribution channel for major items exported to the U.S.
