      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      This study was conducted to examine if the recognition of safety will affect the satisfaction of school life. The survey was administered to 85 students who were studying in a middle school and a high school in Gimhae. We have two variables in this study: Safety recognition and school life satisfaction. Safety recognition was divided into two factors: Home safety recognition and school safety recognition. The instrument to measure the effects of these factors was adapted from Kang(2002), whose validity and reliability was already proved in her study. School safety recognition was estimated by the instrument which was used by Park(2010). The data was analyzed by factor analysis and reliability analysis. The final data was processed by regression analysis. The result was that school safety recognition, which was one factor of safety recognition, significantly affected school life satisfaction. In the case of home safety recognition, the younger one is, the more his or her satisfaction with school life is affected by home safety recognition. Based on the results, it should be inferred that safety eduction is necessary not only for protecting students from danger but also for improving the quality of their school lives. This study has a broader impact such that it would change the focus of safety education from safety per se to the quality of lives. In this vein, we have another reason to offer students safety training in school.
