Young children are the main target of the technological ages at the 21th century. Their growth and development have consisted of large doses of multimedia channels such as television, CD-Rom, videos, electric games, personal computers, and Internet networks, etc. Every day, newspaper and television report the technological benefits to human life and society. The purpose of this article was to review relationship between multimedia and child development and the causal relation of them based upon the related antecedent researches. By this paper, the following issues were explored. First, it was presented wether there would be positive or negative influences of micro computer material to child development. Secondly, it was presented to review the consideration that are essential to full integration of multimedia into early childhood centers and explore the actual ways for applying computer programs in the early childhood classroom. Finally, it were discussed that five problems confront early childhood teachers in their search to implement an effective program of computer instruction : (1) the worries about the developmental appropriateness of computer software, (2) problems concerning the social isolation especially in using camputer in the early years, (3) issues about how to select and use the developed computer software in order to facilite the creative minds of young children, (4) problems concerning giving equal opportunity of computer proximity and usage to both sex of children, and (5) the integration of computer area into other interest areas in the classroom. Based upon mentions in the above, the following recommendations were addressed. The computer is to become the useful educational tools for developing the creative problem solving of young children. Far utilization of computer as the usual tools, it is of importance to correct the negative points of view of computer biases of which pareants and teacher perceived. Also, it recommends that researchers should be in pursuit of conducting the experimental research methodology rather than observational or correlational research model in order to investigate the casual effects between multimedia and child development.
