尋父談의 淵源과 文學的 形象化 = The Origin of Tales of Searching for a Father and their Literary Embodiment

국문 초록 (Abstract)

尋父談은 離散이나 失踪으로 헤어진 아버지를 찾는 이야기이다. 家父長制를 사회에서 아버지는 한 가정의 家長으로서 자녀의 삶에 지대한 영향을 끼친다. 아버지의 부재는 자녀의 생존과 사회생활에 심각한 문제를 일으키기 때문에 아버지를 찾는 일은 중요한 관심사가 되었다.
현실적 체험을 바탕으로 하는 심부담은 흥미와 감동 그리고 교훈을 고루 갖추고 있어 일찍부터 詩, 說話, 小說의 소재로 취택되었다. 주몽신화에서 시작되는 심부담의 문학적 형상화 작업은 설화와 고소설을 거쳐 현대소설에 이르기까지 지속적으로 이어져 오고 있다. <최척전>처럼 심부담을 중요 소재로 한 작품은 물론이고, <유충렬전>, <홍길동전> 같은 작품도 심부담의 전통을 수용하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 심부담에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 할 때 이들 작품의 본질과 성격은 새롭고 깊이있게 이해될 수 있다. 한국서사문학의 흐름 속에 광범위하게 수용된 심부담은 하나의 主題史的 脈絡을 이루고 있으며, 동아시아를 비롯한 세계문학과의 비교 연구의 소재가 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Tales of Searching for a Father is about a story of finding a lost father due to a family breakup or his disappearance. In a patrilineal society, a father figure, as the leader of a family, takes an important role in the lives of his children. Considering that the absence of a father can cause serious problems in his children's survival and social lives, it seems natural that the motif of finding a father is important in Korean literature. The motif has been adopted in poetry, folktales, and fiction works because it can attract people's attention, stimulate emotional responses, and provide moral teachings.
The embodiment of the motif in literature can be found in the mythof Chumong, folktales, premodern fiction works, andcontemporary fiction works. For example, the motif is not only included in The Tale of Ch'oe Ch'ok which deals mainly with the Ch'oe family's separation and reunion, but also in the Tale of Yu Ch'ungryol and Tale of Hong Kiltong. We can expect that those stories can bring a new perspective on interpreting Korean literature if they are examined through the lens of the motif of finding a father. It is adoptedthroughout and becomes an important theme in Korean literature. Thus, tales containing the motif are worth examining in the context of East Asian literature and, furthermore, world literature as well.
