뒤르케임 일병 구하기 = 파슨스, 뒤르케임주의 문화사회학, 그리고 롤스

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 기왕에 제기된 뒤르케임에 대한 모든 해석들에 내재된 오해들을 불식하고, 필자에 의해 규명된 “구해진 뒤르케임 일병”의 본 모습을 제시하는 것이 그 주된 목적이라고 할 수 있다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 기존의 “뒤르케임 일병 구하기”에 속하는 것으로 간주될 수 있는 사상들과 이론들 중에서 특히 롤스의 이해를 준거로 해서 파슨스와 신기능주의의 문화사회학을 점검해보고, 마지막으로 롤스의 해석 역시 비판적으로 검토할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Parsons and Neo-functionalists such as Alexander have been considered to be two major critics on Durkheim. In fact, their critiques stand out from the others’, which is shown by the popularity with which they have often and regularly been cited. Due to popularity, their interpretations of Durkheim have been treated as canonical critiques. Unfortunately, these critics themselves have not undergone examination for the validity of their arguments until recently when Rawls attempted to scrutinize these two interpretations of Durkheim very carefully. The main purpose of this article is to make a detailed critical appraisal of the interpretations of Durkheim, which are provided by Rawls as well as critics such as Parsons and neo-functionalist-cultural studies. By focusing on Durkheim’s theory of action and thought, this article tries to offer a novel interpretation of essential Durkheim views.
