    This study was carried out the effect of stability and pigment extract in the Phellodendron bak. The stability is to investigate the absorbance of the Berberine, one of the major yellow pigments and the stability regarding the effect of Light. Oxygen, Temperature, PH and IR-Test.
    The main results are summarized as follows:
    1. The best and proper solvent to extract berberine pigment was a ethanol, methanol and a distilled water.
    2. The light effect indicated that the absorbances of solution in absence of light was more stable and the most absorbances is 420nm.
    3. The Oxygen(O₂) effect to berberine showed that the condition in the absence of O₂was more stable than that in presence of O₂.
    4. The temperature showed that the absorbances was best stable in 4℃ and less changed at 25℃〈 60℃.
    5. The best condition of berberind was stable in PH 2.
