Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of regular aquarobics on body composition, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) and sleep quality in elderly women. Methods: The participants for this study were 100 of elderly women age 60 or over, who were assigned to one of three groups, except for non-regular participants, an experimental (aquatic exercise) group (n=25), comparative (dance, gymnastics) group (n=23), and control (non-exercise) group (n=28). Statistical analysis was done using repeated measures repeated ANOVA with SPSS software program (version 15.0). Statistical significance was set at the level of p<.05. Results: The results were as follows; Body composition including lean body mass (muscle, bone organs) improved significantly. IADL and quality of sleeping also were significantly enriched. Conclusion: The results of the data analysis of data suggest that regular aquarobics is a useful exercise for preventing and easing sleep disorder, and living independently. Thus aquarobics is recommended as an appropriate type of exercise for elderly women who are at risk for restricted activities of daily living, weaken muscular function, and sleep disturbances.
