Using anionic polymerization technique several amphiphilic homo and block copolymers were designed, synthesized, and their nanostructure in selective solvent were characterized. The amphiphilic homopolymer such as poly[2-[4-vinylphenyl]pyridine], poly[3-[4-vinylphenyl]pyridine], poly[4-[4-vinylphenyl]pyridine] formed micelles/vesicles as like block copolymer. The coil-coil block copolymer, PS-b-P2VP, and poly[2-vinylpyridine-block-2-[4-vinylphenyl]pyridine] [P2VP-b-PVPPy] formed fascinating morphologies and act as template for metal nanoparticles formation. On the other hand, rod-coil type di- and tri-block copolymers, PHIC/P2VP, self-assembled into various nanostructures with extra ordinary packing depending upon solvent composition and molecular weight. Especially, well-defined polyisocyanates bearing reactive side group were also investigated in order to extend the range of functionalities. These polymers could be utilized for further modification reactions.
