다문화 수용에 대한 부정적 인식 비교연구 = A Comparative Study of Negative Perceptions of Multicultural Acceptance

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 우리 사회에서 거주하는 외국인의 인구는 전체 인구의 5.2%에 해당하는 약 269만 명으로 확인되고 있으며, 현실적으로 다문화 사회에 진입하게 되어 다양한 유형의 갈등과 분쟁에 대한 정책이 필요한 시점이다. 이에 외국인이나 이주민에 대한 부정적인 직간접 경험은 이들을 수용하는 태도에 단점으로 작용할 수가 있으며, 다양한 유형의 범죄와 경제적ㆍ문화적 요인들과 결합하여 집단 간의 갈등 구조가 형성되면서 심각한 사회현상으로 발전할 가능성이 있다.
본 연구는 여성가족부의 다문화 수용성 조사 2차 자료를 활용하여 다문화 수용과 관련된 부정적 인식에 대한 집단 간의 인식 차이를 분석한 결과, 인구사회학적 변인에서 대중매체 다문화 접촉 경험, 이웃으로 삼고 싶지 않은 사람, 외국인 근로자에 대한 지각된 위협 인식, 외국 이주민 수용 태도에 대한 조사대상자 집단 간의 인식차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Rcently, the number of foreigners residing in our society has been confirmed to be approximately 2.69 million, representing 5.2% of the total population. This demonstrates the realistic need for policies to address various types of conflict and disputes as we enter a multicultural society. In other words, negative direct and indirect experiences with foreigners or immigrants can negatively impact attitudes toward them. Also, this can lead to intergroup conflict and potentially escalating into a serious social phenomenon when combined with various types of crime and economic and cultural factors.
This study utilized secondary data from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's Multicultural Acceptance Survey. This study revealed differences across demographic and socioeconomic variables including experiences with multicultural exposure through mass media, perceived threats from foreign workers, and attitudes toward accepting foreign immigrants, and analyzing differences in perceptions across groups regarding negative perceptions of multicultural acceptance.
