One of the most significant directors in the world cinema, Sergei Parajanov has cultivated distinctive, readily identifiable style of film aesthetics. Lived in Armenia, Georgia, Ukraina and Russia, Parajanov not only incarnated himself the view of ethnography, but embodied this cosmopolitan and multicultural background in his films. Ethnographical attention and affection for minorities and the margins was internalized Parajanov’s life and was slide into the back scenery of his films. Like as cardiogram, which dynamically shows core heartbeat, films of Parajanov make diagnosis of cultural memory and ontological root of human being. Moreover, having particular love for ancient christian culture of Armenia, Georgia, Ukraina and Russia, Parajanov tried to delicate reflect cultural memory and ontological root of human being by combination with christianity. Harmoniously coexistence between everyday life of ethnographical minorities and christian culture itself is the spatial background of films of Parajanov. On the other hand protruding visual images regardless of filmic story are figurative subjects realizing picturesque characteristics of films. For that reason films of Parajanov are poetic rather than epical, what is more paradigmatic rather than syntagmatic. Picturesque visual images of his films also are quite similar with stills that expand space of filmic diegesis, penetratively resonating at the same time with distinguished feature of dual narrative in cinema.
