구문이해능력과 성별이 속담이해능력에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Syntax-Semantic Comprehension Ability and Gender on Proverb Comprehension

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study investigates the effect of syntax-semantic comprehension ability and gender on proverb comprehension. 108 third grade children participated in the study. Each child was individually interviewed for the language test. Based on the results of the language test, each group was divided into three subgroups: high, middle, and low groups. Then all children were given a written forced-choice test in which proverbs were presented in the context of a short paragraph, followed by four possible interpretations. The results were as follows. First, syntax-semantic comprehension ability aided in proverb comprehension. Second, it was shown that gender significantly influenced proverb comprehension only among children with a low level of syntax-semantic comprehension ability.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 구문이해능력이 속담이해능력에 영향을 주는지 그리고 성별에 따라 속담의 이해능력에는 차이를 보이는지 알아보고자 하였으며, 이 결과를 바탕으로 초등학교 교육과정 편성에 기초정보를 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 경기도 신도시 소재 초등학교 3학년 아동 108명을 대상으로 구문이미 이해력 검사를 실시하였고, 그 결과를 토대로 구문이해능력에 따라 상, 중, 하 집단으로 나누었다. 그 다음 연구 대상 아동에게 속담이해력 검사를 실시하여 결과를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 구문이해능력은 속담이해능력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 구문이해의미 이해력 검사에서 높은 점수를 받은 상, 중, 하 집단의 순서에 따라 속담이해능력 검사를 잘 수행하였다. 성별에 따른 속담이해능력의 차이를 검사 한 결과에서는 구문이해능력 하 집단에서만 성별에 따른 차이를 보여 여아가 남아보다 속담이해능력이 높았다. 본 연구 결과에 의하면 초등학교 3학년 아동에게 있어서 구문이해능력은 속담이해능력에 영향을 주는 주요한 한 요인이라는 것을 제시할 수 있다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 초등학교 아동의 학습이해능력을 촉진하기 위해서는 구문이해능력을 고려하여 비유적 언어의 교육내용 및 교육방법을 다양화 하여야 한다는 시사점을 제시할 수 있겠다.
