상황 변인에 따른 수치심경향성과 죄책감경향성의 비교 = Comparison between Shame-Proneness and Guilt-Proneness: Differences by Situational Variables

This study focuses on finding the functions of shame-proneness and guilt-proneness in the relation of contingent situations. The results from Study which were investigated to examine the situational variables in relation to shame and guilt, are as follows. Considering on the types of negative situations, shame- proneness was positively related to the psychological pain on the nonmoral situation(e.g., incompetence situation), while the guilt-proneness was positively related to the psychological pain on the moral situation (e.g., transgression situation). In nonmoral situation, the participants reported higher shame scores when more observers and the less intimate observers were involved. On the other hand, in moral situation, the participants reported higher guilt scores only when many observers involved. In Study, it showed to bring the importance of situational variables into light in understanding shame-proneness and guilt-proneness.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 부정적 경험의 종류나 관찰자변인(관찰자 심리적 거리, 수)에 따라 개인의 수치심경향성과 죄책감경향성이 심리적 고통에 영향을 미치는 정도의 차이가 있는지를 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 남ㆍ녀 고등학생 275명을 대상으로 수치심과 죄책감을 유발할 가능성이 있는 부정적 사건을 무능감이 노출되는 상황과 도덕적인 위반행위가 노출되는 상황의 두 가지 사건으로 나누어 가상의 시나리오를 제시하고 관찰자 변인에 따른 정서적 결과를 측정하였다. 그 결과, 수치심경향성은 무능사건 상황에서, 죄책감경향성은 위반사건 상황에서 심리적 고통정도와 유의미한 상관관계가 나타났으며, 무능사건 상황에서는 관찰자가 많고 소원한 경우에 수치심이 더 높게 나타나는 것으로 나타났다. 도덕적 위반사건이 노출되는 상황에서 경험하는 죄책감은 관찰자가 많은 경우에만 심리적 고통이 더 큰 것으로 나타났고, 친밀정도에 따른 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구는 수치심이나 죄책감과 같은 자의식적 정서를 이해하는데 있어서 개인의 심리적 특성과 더불어 상황적 변인의 중요성을 제안하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.
