현대 사진예술에 나타난 성적 환상의 재현: 성적 환상의 존재론적 재현과 그 역사적 탐구 = Representation of Sexual Fantasy Appearing in the Modern Photograph Art

Representation of eroticism is one of the most significant themes in modern photograph art these days, because eroticism as a mental desire of human being includes not only the simple biological sexual appetite as the most fundamental desire out of those constrained inside human being, but also the emotional aspect surrounding sex. Such artistic representation of desire, especially through photograph, makes viewers imagine fantasy-image, namely, certain metaphysical portent or image such as vision, intoxication, horror, bizarrerie, ecstasy, bliss which cannot be easily perceived by human being. However, the distinction between pornography for sexual stimulation and eroticism which leads to sexual fantasy is always obscure in photograph image.
Historically, sexual representation was restricted to pornography only for sexual stimulation of viewers, especially photograph of women’s nude at the beginning of invention of photograph. Later, pornographic photograph was developed to pornography industry in the 19th century due to technical development of media. The pornographic photograph in tremendous quantity which was furtively produced at that time was rapidly spread to whole European area due to bold pose and blatant scene which is comparable to that of current pornographic movie.
Surrealism authors used to directly reproduce world of sexual fantasy by perverting reality and utilize mannequin or doll which arouses constrained desire. Further, sexual accessories as transference-objet appearing in their work, namely, stocking, garter-belt, women’s underwear, leather, etc., cause erotic fantasy from degenerated sexual appetite such as fetishism, costume perversion, sadomasochism.
The fantasy of eroticism appears in 2 large types in modern photograph art. One type representation fantastic and visionary thing which is revealed in unconsciousness of individual based on automatic description method and psychoanalytical mode of surrealism. Representation of sexual fantasy performs the critic function from postmodernism trend in the other type. Since 1980’ when postmodernism emerged, fantasy-image of eroticism which appears as photograph relates to sexual peculiarity in paradoxical, derisive and sarcastic mode, that is, sexual prohibition and taboo that has been constrained for long time like homosexuality, minor sexuality and paraphilias as well as sexual concept perverted and degenerated in modern society these days.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

에로티시즘의 재현은 오늘날 현대 사진예술에서 가장 중요한 테마들 중 하나다. 왜냐하면 인간의 정신적 욕망으로서 에로티시즘은 인간 내면에 억압된 욕망 중 가장 근원적인 욕구로 단순한 생물학적 성욕이 아니라 성을 둘러싼 감정적인 측면까지 포괄하기 때문이다. 이러한 욕구의 예술적 재현은 특별히 사진에서 응시자에게 환상-이미지 즉 인간이 쉽게 인지하지 못하는 몽환, 도취, 공포, 엽기, 엑스타지, 희열과 같은 어떤 형이상학적인 조짐이나 기분을 상상하게 한다. 그러나 사진 이미지에서 성적 자극을 위한포르노와 성적 환상을 유발하는 에로티시즘과의 구별은 언제나 모호하게 나타난다.
역사적으로 사진발명 초기 성적 재현은 오로지 응시자의 성적 자극을 목적으로 하는 포르노 특히 여성의 누드사진에 국한되었다. 이후 19세기 포르노 사진은 매체의 기술적 발전에 따라 포르노 산업으로발전하게 되는데, 당시 은밀히 제작된 엄청난 양의 포르노 사진은 오늘날 포르노 영화 못지않은 과감한포즈와 노골적인 장면으로 급속히 유럽 전역으로 퍼졌다.
초현실주의 작가들은 현실의 왜곡을 통해 성적 환상의 세계를 직접 재현하기도 하고 억압된 성적 욕구를 불러일으키는 마네킹이나 인형을 활용하기도 했다. 또한 그들의 작품에 나타난 전이-오브제로서성적 액세서리 예컨대 스타킹, 가트-벨트, 여성 속옷, 가죽 등은 패티시즘, 착복도착증, 사도-메저키즘등 변질된 성욕으로부터 에로틱한 환상을 야기한다.
현대 사진예술에서 에로티시즘의 환상은 크게 두 가지 유형으로 나타난다. 한편으로 초현실주의의 자동기술법과 정신분석학적 방식으로 한 개인의 무의식에서 드러나는 환상적이고 몽환적인 것을 재현하는 유형이다. 또 한편으로 포스트모더니즘 경향에서 성적 환상의 재현이 비평적 기능을 수행하는 유형이다. 포스트모더니즘이 도래하는 1980년대 이후 사진으로 나타난 에로티시즘의 환상-이미지는 역설적, 조롱적, 냉소적인 방식으로 성적 특이성 즉 동성애, 소수성, 성도착증과 같이 오랫동안 억압된 성적금기와 터부 그리고 오늘날 현대사회에서 왜곡되고 변질된 성적 개념에 관계한다.
