브레슬라우 시범주거프로젝트의 건축적 특성에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Architectural Characteristics of Breslau Model Housing Project

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to establish systematic understanding on the architectural meaning and position of Breslausiedlung through the investigation into the background, planning idea and characteristics appeared in the realization process. Breslausiedlung was evaluated as an important experiment because various quests in order to create new archetype of residence which was able to accept new way of life was executed by 11 architects. The characteristics of Breslusiedlung can be summarized as follows: 1) creation of new residential archetypes such as detached walk-up APT., singles residence which was adapted tow level access corridor, and gallery access walk-up APT, 2) encouragement of sense of community through the area definition of estate, central arrangement of common facilities and rise of interaction of residents by the overlapping of traffic line on the path, 3) presentation of new culture of life realized through the definition of rational lay-out of residential space and application of advanced facilities and furnitures.
In spite of these positive effects on the uprise of sense of community and presentation of new model of life, reputation on the Beslausiedlung was relatively restricted due to the low popularity of participated architects and extinction from the western world caused by communalization of the region. Therefore, proper evaluation on the historical phase of Breslausiedlung should be required and developed application of achievements are executed.
