『삼국유사』의 설화를 통해 본 신의(信義)의 유형과 그 불교적 기능 = Fidelity types and Buddhist roles from fables of Samgukyusa

The fidelity is universal concept in human history. Therefore fidelity concept accentuated times and regions in moral principles for personal and society. In this paper, we considered the historical significance of fidelity through fables of Samgukyusa. At first for convenience` sake we grouped fidelity into six classes about fables. The first group is horizontal and temperate fidelity concept in man-woman relationship. The second group is vertical and filial piety fidelity concept in maternal-filial relationship. The third group is religious austerities fidelity concept in sovereign - subject. The fourth group is equality fidelity concept in human being and living creature. The fifth group is transcendency and fraternity fidelity concept in friends. The sixth group is fidelity concept in master and disciple. There are Buddhist thoughts in common with fidelity concepts, namely the retribution of Buddhist karma. To put it concretely, sincerity and right confidence of Buddhist doctrine. So called, wisdoms and compassions in other words prajna and metta of Buddhism. These fidelity concepts divided into two type. First type is the fidelity concept for one`s own self. Second type is the fidelity concept for altruistic actions. Between with the personal matter i.e. the fidelity concept for one`s own self and society matter i.e. the fidelity concept for altruistic actions are render great services to formation and maintenance of public order.
