브라질의 대중국 대두 수출경쟁력 분석 = A study on the export competitiveness of the Brazilian soybean industry in the China Market

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the export competitiveness of the Brazilian soybean industry. In particular, this study examines intensively the export competitiveness in the Chinese market. To this end, first, it examines the global soybean market structure, the agricultural productivity growth of Brazil and the price competitiveness of Brazilian soybean. This study investigates the major sources of Brazil’s export performance by using the Constant Market Shares (CMS) model, Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RCA) and Market Comparative Advantage Index (MCA) to analyze the competitiveness of the Brazilian soybean industry.
The CMS analysis reveals that the Brazilian export performance is mainly attributed to its competitive strength in the Chinese market. The RCA and MCA index shows that Brazilian soybean has competitiveness in respect of comparative advantage not only in the global market but also in the Chinese market. This study also indicates that the export competitiveness of Brazilian soybean continues to rise while the export competitiveness of US soybean is declining in the global and Chinese market.
