아동의 정서지능과 얼굴표정을 통한 정서읽기능력 = Children's emotional intelligence and the emotional states reading ability through facial expression

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study investigated the relationship between emotional intelligence and the emotional states reading ability through facial expression, in addition, whether the ability to read facial expression changes by age(4-.5-year-old), facial expression's presenting areas(face, eyes, mouth), type of emotions(basic/complex emotions), dimensions of emotion(pleasantness/unpleasantness dimensions). Also, it was tested whether children's emotional intelligence development according to the age(4-,5-year-old). Emotional Intelligence Test and face expression reading test was administered to 73 children. The results showed that emotional intelligence was positively related to the ability of reading facial expression. And the ability of facial expression reading improves as the age get higher. Also, they performed better with the condition of face than eyes or mouth and basic emotions than complex emotion, pleasantness dimensions than unpleasantness dimensions. Especially, the performance difference of facial expression reading from the type of emotions and the dimension of emotions was presented to facial area rather than eyes or mouth areas. The results demonstrate that age, facial expression's presenting areas and the type of emotions, the dimension of emotions effect on estimation of other people's emotion through facial expressions and there were closely relationship between emotional intelligence and the reading of facial expression.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 얼굴표정을 통하여 다른 사람의 정서 상태를 판단하는 능력과 정서지능간의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였으며, 연령(4세, 5세), 얼굴제시영역(얼굴전체, 눈, 입), 정서의 유형(기본정서, 복합정서), 정서의 차원(쾌정서, 불쾌정서)에 따른 얼굴표정읽기 능력의 차이와 연령(4세, 5세)에 따라 아동의 정서지능 발달특성이 어떠한지 알아보았다. 총 73명의 아동에게 얼굴표정 읽기 과제와 아동용 정서지능척도를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 정서지능과 얼굴표정 읽기 능력간의 정적상관을 보였고, 연령이 증가함에 따라 정서지능과 얼굴표정을 판단하는 능력이 증가하였다. 즉 얼굴표정 과제에서 눈이나 입만 제시한 경우보다 얼굴전체를 제시하였을 때, 복합정서보다 기본정서에서, 불쾌정서보다 쾌정서에서 더 좋은 수행을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 연령, 얼굴제시영역, 정서의 유형, 정서의 차원이 얼굴표정을 통해 타인의 정서를 판단하는데 영향을 주며, 정서지능과 얼굴표정읽기 간의 밀접한 관계가 있음을 시사한다.
