청소년 아르바이트 참여 결정요인에 관한 연구 = A study on the determinants of the participation in part-time work among adolescents

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The number of adolescents who have the experience of working outside home during the school period has steadily increased. While the previous studies on adolescents' working experiences have mainly focused on the effects of working, this study aims to investigate the determinants of adolescents' part-time work participation. Some previous studies on this issue have measurement problems in that the timing of measuring part-time work participation was overlapped with that of measuring independent variables. To clear the issue of time order, the independent variables used in this study were measured one year prior to the dependent variable. In addition, the subjects in this study were limited to those who attended schools at the time of data collection. The results show that the factors influencing part-time work participation for the 9th graders were academic performance, drinking and smoking experiences during the previous year. Also, academic performance and drinking experiences during the past year, and the type of school(academic vs. vocational) were found to be the significant factors in influencing the 10th graders' part-time work participation. The implication of these results for the adolescent development was discussed.
