다문화가족지원센터 사회복지사의 문화적 역량 선행요인에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Preceding Factors Influencing Cultural Competence of Social Workers Working at Multicultural Family Support Centers

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the preceding factors influencing cultural competence of social workers working at the multicultural family support centers. Based on the Korean cultural competence measure (``cultural awareness,`` ``cultural attitude,`` and ``cultural knowledge and skill``) composed of 33 items, the study collected data from 214 social workers at the 67 multicultural family support centers nationwide. The analysis of the survey data shows that the average level of social workers` cultural competence is high on such sub-items as ``cultural awareness`` and ``cultural attitude`` (4.3 and 4.2 of 5-point) but low on ``cultural knowledge and skill`` (3.7). The result of hierarchical regression analysis of the preceding factors affecting cultural competence is as follows. First, such personal characteristics as age and education have no effect on the cultural competence. Second, among job characteristics, ``daily direct service hours for multicultural clients`` is a preceding factor affecting ``cultural awareness,`` ``culturalattitude,`` and ``cultural knowledge and skill`` but ``length of tenure`` is a preceding factor affecting ``cultural attitude`` and ``cultural knowledge and skill.`` Third, ``supervisor``s support`` has a direct effect on the ``cultural attitude`` and ‘cultural knowledge and skill,’showing significance of △R² change. Finally this study suggests some ways to enhance cultural competence of social workers working with multicultural families.
