칸트철학에서 계몽주의와 인문학 = Enlightenment and Hope-Humanities in Kant`s Philosophy

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper attempts to prove that it is inappropriate for Earl Shorris to point out that Kant`s philosophy is anti-humanistic in terms of his `humanities of hope`. Kant`s “philosophizing” inherited the spirit of Enlightenment attempting the scientification of sciences(Wissenschaften) on the basis of “argumentative clearness” and “intuitive clearness” with excluding rhetoric. He also classified humanities as “historical knowledge”, separated them from “rational knowledge” to which philosophy belongs, and included them in a “pragmatical anthropology”. Kant, however, came in contact with Vico and Herder, who criticized the Enlightenment. They questioned the subordination of the humanities to the scientific system. Kant came to think over his philosophizing with their influences. So, he tried to develop newly the general trends that emphasized taste judgment in relation to culture. Of course, he tried to do so with common sense. He also tried to synthesize `philosophy as a science` and `philosophy as a life`. He included humanities in the broad sense of philosophy, but at the same time he excluded it from the realm of philosophy. It reflects his academic spirit and his philosophizing to practice philosophy in reality based on strict science. He considered the practical work as important as the theoretical work of philosophy. Furthermore, he tried to make the rhetoric belonging to an aesthetic art(Kunst) contribute to realizing enlightenment through self-criticism of reason. He also tried to harmonize knowledge education and disciplinary education based on Socrates` dialogue, and to harmonize the path of genius with the way of “sensus communis” through imagination. This can still make an important contribution to today`s era in which humanistic imagination is important.
