일본의 궁중공연과 문화콘텐츠에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고에서는 일본궁중공연예술 가가쿠의 전통적 연행 형태와 현대사회에서의 변용 양상, 그리고 새로운 콘텐츠 개발 사례에 대해서 살펴보고, 궁중공연예술의 문화콘텐츠로서의 가치와 가능성에 대해서 모색해보았다.
가가쿠는 오늘날까지 존재하고 있는 일본 황실과 신사 및 사찰의 ‘의식음악’으로서 전승되는 한편 일본 국립극장의 가가쿠 공연을 계기로 일반 대중을 위한 감상용 ‘예술음악’으로 그 맥락이 변모되어 가고 있다.
일본 국립극장의 다양한 형태의 가가쿠 공연 중에서 특히 고대 악기 및 악곡의 복원공연은 문화원형을 발굴하고 역사적 고증을 토대로 새로운 가가쿠 콘텐츠를 개발한 대표적인 사례이다. 복원 가가쿠 공연은 현대 가가쿠 공연과 더불어 가가쿠의 레퍼토리 확장 및 수용층 확대에 기여하고 있다는 점과 전통음악콘텐츠가 향후 다양한 모습으로 변신할 수 있는 가능성을 보여주고 있다는 점에서 중요한 의의를 가진다.
국립극장의 문화디지털라이브러리는 문화원형과 정보통신기술이 결합한 디지털문화콘텐츠의 사례이다. 이것은 일본전통공연예술에 대한 다양한 정보와 교육적 콘텐츠를 제공하고 영상미디어를 활용하여 전통공연이 대중에게 친근하게 접근할 수 있는 장치를 마련했으며, 아카이브화 된 정보는 후세의 자산으로서도 계승할 수 있다는 점에서 그 성과는 주목할 만하다.
도기 히데키와 덴치가라쿠의 사례로 본 네오 가가쿠 또는 퓨전 가가쿠는 전통 가가쿠를 원천소스로 하여 대중적인 콘텐츠로 개발된 새로운 장르이다. 지루하고 어렵게 여겨져 왔던 가가쿠를 듣기 편하고 현대화된 형태로 변형한 네오 가가쿠는 대중들에게 신선한 패러다임을 제시함으로써 가가쿠의 저변 확대에 크게 기여하고 있으며, 전통과는 다른 음악적 재미와 부가가치를 창출하는 문화콘텐츠로의 발전가능성과 잠재력을 보여주고 있다.
<꿈>, <음양사>, <가가쿠센타이 화이트스톤즈>는 가가쿠의 소재를 미디어와의 결합을 통해 대중의 기호에 맞게 가공, 변형함으로써 영화, 드라마, 소설, 애니메이션, 만화 등의 다양한 장르로 재생산하고 있는 사례이다. 가가쿠의 전통적 이미지를 응용하여 대중에게 효과적으로 접근할 수 있도록 활용 범위를 확장시킨 예로서 가가쿠의 영상미디어산업과 출판산업으로서의 활용 가치를 말해주고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research looked into the traditional forms of performing in Gagaku, a Japanese court performance, its transformed usage in modern society, and new contents development and explored its value and possibility as cultural contents in court performance art.
While being passed down as a ‘ritual music’ of Japanese imperial house, shrine, and temple, Gagaku is changing into an ‘artistic music’ for the general public.
The Japanese national theater developed a new Gagaku content with recovery of ancient instruments and musical pieces based on historical evidence.
The national theater’s Culture Digital Library is a digital cultural content that combined cultural origin and information communication technology. It provided a tool for traditional art to approach the public by using image media, and it is a remarkable achievement as this archived information can be passed down to the later generations.
Neo-gagaku is a new genre that originated from the traditional Gagaku and made it into a more popular content. It has greatly contributed to expansion of Gagaku and has shown potential and development as cultural content that creates different musical interest and values from the tradition.
<Dream>, <Onmyoji>, and <Gagaku-sentai White Stones> are examples of Gagaku reproduced in many different genres including movies, dramas, novels, animation, and cartoons. It shows the value of Gagaku in image media and publishing industries by expanding the usability of it to effectively approach the public.
