학술논문에 나타난 “필자 지칭 표현”의 사용 양상 = A study on the “authorial self-mention” of journal articles in Korean

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The author of journal articles may remain undisclosed but sometimes discloses one`s identity through various means and strategies. Such ``authorial self-mention`` becomes a significant indicator both to clearly display the special attribute of Korean academic discourse and to expose the academic writing competence. In this study, through examining the usage trend of authorial self-mentioning expressions in journal articles, its implication in the education of journal article writing was examined. Within this article, all expressions used by the author to suggest oneself or own study is defined as ``authorial self-mention``. Authorial self-mentioning expressions appear at least once within the majority of journal articles and the type can be classified principally into three categories. Expressions under the ``study`` type (this article, this study, this writing etc) appeared in an overwhelming frequency with the ``author`` type (author, researcher) and the ``pronoun`` type (we, ``yeo-gi``) ensuing subsequently. A differentiation in strategies between different expressions used, such as ``the objectification of argument`` in the ``study`` type, ``establishment of familiarity with author-relevant reference`` in ``author`` type, and ``involvement of community`` in ``pronoun`` type, was discovered to be intrinsic. With such strategies as basis, the author of journal, while maintaining the format of scholarly discourse, through distinguishing ``the writerly self`` and ``the real self`` or effective introduction of a relationship with the audience, selects and utilizes the authorial self-mentioning expressions. This paper, as the first discussion which has dealt with author self-mentioning expressions as the primary subject, holds its significance as a search for the fundamental data that can serve as a basis for article writing education, built on real case examples.
