The purpose of the study is to analyze errors on listening test questions and listening scripts of the advanced level test for Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) in the view of Korean linguistics. On closer examination of the test paper(from the 10th to the 26th) and listening scripts taken effect up to now in 2012, errors were mainly found in ‘vocabulary’, ‘grammar’, and ‘word spacing’. Among them, ‘vocabulary’ has many errors on 1) semantically inappropriate vocabulary, 2) overlapping vocabulary, 3) translated tone. ‘Grammar’ has many errors on 1) inappropriate sentence response, 2) uses of spoken language, 3) uses of unnecessary passiveness, 4) uses of unnecessary constituent of sentence, 5) excessive adnominal phrases, 6) honorific error, 7) tense error. In addition, ‘word spacing’ mostly has 1) written without spacing instead of writing with the space, 2) written with the space instead of writing without spacing. If so, it should have the basis and standard on the criteria of nonverbal expressions. Expecially, listening assessment data in reputable TOPIK should be rejected excessive uses of nonverbal elements such as uses of ungrammatical elements, uses of overlapping vocabulary, and abbreviation, considered the features of listening assessment.
