The purpose of this study was to mediating effect of self-compassion on the relationship between perceived parental rejection by university students and social anxiety. A self-reported survey was conducted with 321 university students nationwide, and the data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between perceived parental rejection, social anxiety, and self-compassion, and the mediating effect of self-compassion was significant. The results suggest the need for therapeutic interventions utilizing self-compassion to alleviate social anxiety in university students who perceived high levels of parental rejection.
