This paper examines the violence of “weak men” in contemporary Japan through an analysis of Kanako Nishi’s “The Dawn of the Night,” and attempts to suggest ways to eliminate violence.The subject of analysis is “Ore,” the “weak man” in “The Dawn of the Night.”First, we analyze the weakness and violence of “Ore,” and reveal that “Ore” has given birth to violence through the homosocial community.Next, we propose that the intervention of others is necessary to liberate “weak men” who are preoccupied with violence, based on the fact that the violent aspect of “Ore” disappeared due to the intervention of the forest.And we explain that the intervention is not temporary, but needs to be a criticism premised on the continuation of human relations. We argue that it is necessary to consider the problem in a way that is open to various other people, rather than thinking about the problem only as a “weak man.”
