The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of emotional abuse and emotional expressiveness of parents on ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and interpersonal problems of ACOA and non-ACOA.
For this purpose, samples of 369 non-ACOA and 206 ACOA who have screened by the Children of Alcoholics Screening Test(CAST-K) were asked to complete Ambivalence over Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire, Emotional Maltreatment Scale, Trauma Antecedents Questionnaire, Self-expressiveness in the Family Questionnaire, Short form of the KIIP Ciucumplex Scale.
As a result, for non-ACOA group, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness has mediating effect between emotional abuse and interpersonal problems, however it has no mediating effect between emotional expressiveness of parents and interpersonal problems. There was no mediating effect of ambivalence over emotional expressiveness for ACOA group.
ACOA group has moderating effect between emotional abuse and interpersonal problems. There was no moderating effect of ACOA between emotional abuse and ambivalence over emotional expressiveness. Also, there was no moderating effect of ACOA between emotional expressiveness of parents and ambivalence over emotional expressiveness.
