음악을 활용한 치료레크리에이션이 치매노인의 인지기능에 미치는 효과 = The Effects of the Recreational Music Therapy on the Cognitive Functional of the Aged People with Dementia

This research had investigated the effects of the recreational music therapy on cognitive function of the aged with dementia. The participants, 14 aged people, were selected from Seocho Weekly Senior Care Center in Seoul, Korea. Kwon and Park(1989) method(Korean version of mini mental state examination : MMSE-K) was applied to evaluate the cognitive function of the aged people with dementia. The results were collected as follows: 1.However, orientation ability was revealed a statistical significant difference between before(M=3.14, SD=1.521)-and- after(M=6.71, SD=2.367) treatment.
2.Memorizing ability was revealed statistical significant at previous(M=2.79, SD=0.802) and after(M=3.50, SD=1.019) treatment. 3.Understanding and decision making ability were revealed statistical significant at previous(M=1.64, SD=0.745) and after(M=1.64, SD=0.479) treatment. 4.In overall, cognitive function was revealed statistical significant(t=4.537, df=13) at previous(M=12.57, SD=4.201) and after(M=17.00, SD=3.863) treatment by t-test in aged people.
In conclusion, musical therapeutic recreation was revealed the great effect for improvement of memorizing ability among cognition function. However, the effect of recreational therapy with music may have wide range of application along with individual characteristics. To establish of the treatment therapy, detail information regarding individual patient should be reflected.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 음악을 활용한 치료레크리에이션이 치매 노인의 인지기능에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위한 것이다. 연구 대상자는 서울시 서초구에 위치한 주간보호센터를 이용하는 14명의 치매노인을 대상으로 하였다. 음악을 중재로 한 치료레크리에이션 프로그램을 진행한 결과 치매 노인들의 인지기능 향상에 유의미한 효과가 있는 것으로 드러났다. 인지기능 측정은 한국판 간이 정신상태 검사(MMSE-K)를 통해 이뤄졌다. 연구대상 치매 노인의 인지기능 정도에 대한 사전-사후 t-검증결과 지남력은 사전검사(M=3.14, SD=1.512)보다 사후검사(M=6.71, SD=2.367)에서 높은 평균을 나타내었고, 기억력에 대한 검사에서도 사전검사(M=2.79, SD=.802)보다 사후검사(M=3.50, SD=1.019)에서 높은 평균을 나타내었다. 이해 및 판단에 대한 검사에서는 사전 검사(M=1.36, SD=.745)보다 사후검사((M=1.64, SD=.497)에서 높은 평균을 나타났다. 결론적으로 치매 노인 인지기능 프로그램에 대한 총점을 t-검증한 결과, 사전검사(M=12.57, SD=4.201)보다 사후검사(M=17.00, SD=3.863)가 높은 평균을 나타내고 있으며, 이는 통계적으로 유의미한 수치(t=-4.537, df=13)다.
지남력, 기억력, 이해 및 판단 능력의 세부 항목에서 사후의 검사결과가 유의하게 높게 나타나 음악을 활용한 치료레크리에이션 프로그램이 치매노인 인지기능 향상에 효과적임이 드러났다. 음악이 치료레크리에이션 프로그램에 적절하게 중재되었을 때 대상자들의 프로그램 참여도나 반응이 높았다는 점도 주목할 가치가 있다.
본 연구는 인지기능의 손상으로 일상생활의 수행 능력이 떨어져 소외되고 방치되어지는 치매 노인에게 음악을 활용한 새로운 치료레크리에이션 방법을 도입·적용해 봄으로써 긍정적인 변화를 유도하여 치매 노인에게 보다 나은 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다는 점에서 실용적 의의가 있다.
