유치원 자유선택활동 시간의 교사 역할 및 역할 수행의 갈등 = A study on teachers' roles and conflicts at free choice activity in a kindergarten

This study is to understand teachers‘ role and their conflict at free choice activities in a kindergarten. For this, this study was to examine the understandings of teachers' roles at free choice activities for three teachers who are in charge of the classes for five-year-old children by ethnographic inquiries through participant observations and in-depth interviews. Findings of this study is that teachers plays whole and various roles at free choice activities. Teachers make plan and preparation for teaching instruments and materials, and environment before free choice activities. Also teachers guide children in their plays of each interest areas, and perform the role of observer, evaluator, supervisor. As a result of considering about a teacher's conflict about one's role, teachers think that the conflict about one's role is caused by playing multiple parts, difficulty of making optimum decisions, high ratio of teacher to children, and playing role of supervisor.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 유치원 자유선택활동 시 교사 역할과, 교사 역할수행의 갈등에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 유치원 만 5세 학급 교사 3명을 대상으로 참여관찰과 심층면담을 통한 문화기술적 연구방법을 사용해 자유선택활동 시 교사 역할과 교사 역할수행의 갈등에 대하여 살펴보았다. 본 연구에서 자유선택활동 시 교사 역할을 살펴본 결과 교사는 다양한 역할을 수행하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 교사는 자유선택활동을 위해 교구, 교재 및 환경을 위한 계획과 준비하기를 하고, 자유선택활동 중 유아들의 놀이를 지도하기, 관찰하기, 평가하기, 생활지도하기, 감독하기의 역할을 한다. 교사들은 자유선택활동 중의 이러한 역할을 모두 매우 중요한 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 또한 자유선택활동 시 교사 역할수행의 갈등요인을 살펴본 결과 교사들은 동시에 총체적인 여러 가지 역할을 수행하고 있는 것, 최적의 의사결정이 불확실한 것, 동시에 다수의 유아를 지도해야 하는 것, 감독자 역할을 수행하는 것으로 인하여 갈등을 겪고 있었다.
